Protocol Handler.NET is a development platform for creating SharePoint protocol handlers with any .NET language.

SharePoint uses protocol handlers to connect to a content source and pull data into the SharePoint index so that users can find information through SharePoint search.

Content sources can be network folder shares, databases, document/content management sources, custom applications or any other source you can connect to and pull data from.

In the past connecting to other types of content sources to make available through SharePoint search would be expensive in terms of development time and money because of the difficult C++ interfaces and lack of available guidance. Now protocol handlers can be developed in a fraction of the time and cost.

Protocol Handler.NET comes with sample source code and help system and works with any SharePoint 2007 version.
